A brief history of EV Bullen...
Established in 1938 by Mr. E.V. Bullen and his son J.G. Bullen, our company has grown from small beginnings to become widely known and respected in London and the South East, as electrical and mechanical building service contractors.
In 1956 Peter Bullen joined the company as the then Managing Director, with the company later being incorporated on 21st March 1960, (Cert. No. 653265). Soon after this, we qualified to receive fixed tenders and jobbing from the Ministry of Public Buildings and Works.
From 1970 onwards, a number of day term contracts were completed with the Department of the Environment (DOE), Property Services Agency (PSA). A substantial term contract was also completed with the Dorchester Hotel over a number of years, which extended in to the 1980s.
The DOE / PSA 3-year day term contracts continued throughout the 1980s, and DOE / PSA Measured Term contracts were commenced, with the London Palaces contract being the first of many.
The DOE / PSA was privatised in the early 1990s, and we were awarded follow-up term contracts directly with the now privatised clients, such as the British Museum and Historic Royal Palaces, for example, and we have also developed close working relationships with management companies such as Operon, Interserve Defence , Skanska, and Taylor Woodrow; all routinely working within government, heritage, and civil.
Our current Managing Director Matt Bullen has expanded the company further in recent years, and we have seen an increase in commercial partnership and framework agreement contracts; including the UK's leading property development companies, schools, government departments, local authorities, universities and colleges, nationally important heritage work, and museums.
We have also specialised in heritage, listed, and buildings of national importance over the previous 25 years, and in 2003 we were proud to be awarded the right to display the Royal Warrant Holders crest on our letterheads and trades vehicles, having completed many successful projects with the Royal Household over the years.
Having celebrated our 70th anniversary year in 2008, EV Bullen now directly employs approximately 40 operatives, together with a supply chain of specialist subcontractors, and we can now offer our customers a comprehensive mechanical and electrical service, including design, supply, and installation.
